The hardest thing about starting, is having to start over. A few years ago I attempted to start a new project, unlike most of my great ideas, this one magically popped in my head at 2 A.M. right before the next episode on Netflix and turning over to find a cooler space on my pillow.
As I attempted to re-position myself, I came up with the idea to stop eating sugar. Yep, I made up in my mind that I would no longer indulge in the sweetness of life through candy, cookies, or anything with sugar, and then I drifted off to sleep. The alarm sounds at 5 A. M. and I go into my normal morning routine, and like every morning before I ate my banana, had coffee and a nice hefty scoop of peanut butter. I forgot about the great idea I had , I forgot that I would no longer eat sugar.
So what is this about? Well, it’s about habitats, making a decision without considering all the facts. This is about behavior, and how our behavior can and often will impose unrealistic goal.
Three good things about this particular event and morning that changed my life. One, I realized how impulsive I can be at times. Secondly, I realized that not following through on what matters most to me will effect all of those around me. Finally, I realized that writing my thoughts down are therapeutic and allows me the time I need to set realistic goals.
So while we are home and our daily routine has changed, try identifying your habit. 3 major behaviors that are worth working on for the betterment of your life and those around you.
Stay well
